Is it permissible to wear a natural wool coat (farwah) imported from an unknown source, if it is not known whether the wool came from an animal slaughtered according to Islamic law or not?

Wearing the fur is permissible even if the animal was not ritually slaughtered, because the wool and hair of a dead animal are pure according to the majority of jurists. This is the view of the Hanafis, Malikis, and Hanbalis, and one opinion among the Shafi'is. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah preferred the view that all of them are pure (the bones, horns, hooves, hair, feathers, and fur of a dead animal), because their original state is purity, and because they are among the good things and not among the prohibited impure things.
