Should a man remain with his wife after both of them have embraced Islam, given that he divorced her dozens of times when they were Christians?

The majority of scholars hold that the marriages of disbelievers are valid and that the rulings of a valid marriage apply to them, contrary to the well-known view among the Malikis who consider the marriages of disbelievers to be invalid. Based on the majority opinion, if a couple embraces Islam, and the husband had divorced his wife three times during their period of disbelief, then she is unlawful for him and will not become lawful for him until she marries another husband, consummates the marriage with him, and then he divorces her. However, if he divorced her less than three times, she remains his wife with the remaining number of divorces. It is advisable to consult Sharia courts or Islamic centers for such cases.
