Obeying parents in what is good and right is obligatory, and disobeying them in matters that are not sinful is an act of disobedience if it causes them severe harm. Mixing in universities can be a source of temptation (fitna), but studying there is not absolutely forbidden if the student can safeguard themselves from prohibitions, especially if no other options are available to them.
