Is it obligatory to seek the permission of one's parents to go for Hajj?

If the Hajj is obligatory, then the parents' consent or permission is not required. He must perform Hajj even if they prevent him, due to the Almighty's saying: (But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. But accompany them in [this] world with appropriate kindness) [Luqman: 15], and due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator." However, if the Hajj is supererogatory, then the benefit should be considered. If his staying with his parents is more preferable because they cannot bear his absence, then he should stay with them, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying to someone who sought his permission for jihad: "Are your parents alive?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Then strive in their service."
