Does a person feel the approach of their appointed time before death?
A person does not know when they will die, because this is from the knowledge of the unseen, which only Allah knows. In al-Bukhari, on the authority of Ibn Umar, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him, said: "The keys to the unseen are five," then he recited the verse: "Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour and sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs. And no soul perceives what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul perceives in what land it will die. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted." A person may, however, have a mere feeling when their death is near that they will die, but this is not for everyone. Some people may feel the approach of their end and inform others, yet their feeling does not materialize. Rather, what they felt was a psychological illusion, or a frightening touch from Satan, or something else.
