The consensus among biographers is that the death of Abdullah ibn Abd al-Muttalib occurred while the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was still in his mother's womb. This view was favored by Ibn Ishaq, Al-Waqidi, Ibn Sa'd, and Al-Baladhuri, and authenticated by Al-Dhahabi. Ibn Kathir stated that this is the well-known opinion. Al-Suhayli reported from Al-Dulabi that it is the view of the majority. Muhammad ibn Sa'd, in his book "Al-Tabaqat Al-Kubra," mentioned three opinions: that his father died while he was in the womb, or when he was twenty-eight months old, or seven months old.
