The answer

Abd al-Muttalib, the Prophet's grandfather (peace and blessings be upon him), died when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was eight years old, meaning in the eighth year after the Year of the Elephant incident. Abd al-Muttalib was buried in al-Hajun, and he was eighty-two years old, though it is also said he was one hundred and ten years old. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned that he was eight years old when his grandfather died, and Umm Ayman narrated that she saw him weeping behind Abd al-Muttalib's bier on the day of his death.
