Is it permissible to take spare parts from damaged and abandoned cars in the neighborhood, and what should be done with the taken part?

If damaged cars are found on owned land, they belong to the landowner. However, if they are found on unowned land, and their owner is known, it is not permissible to take them without his permission, unless it is known that he neglected them and abandoned them, having no desire for them. In that case, they become permissible property for whoever takes possession of them first, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever precedes others to something that no Muslim has preceded him to, then he has more right to it." Whoever takes something contrary to this must return it or seek the owner's forgiveness.
