What is the ruling on the monthly salary of my father who works as a servant in a shrine, and then in a mosque affiliated with it after the shrine was destroyed? And what should I do, as an unemployed person, eating and drinking from his money while rejecting his work? And does the ruling differ if my father also works as a soothsayer?

It is not permissible to build mosques over graves, nor to incorporate graves into mosques, nor to construct them (the graves) high, nor to plaster them, nor to light lamps and lanterns upon them, nor to build domes over them. All of these are forbidden and prohibited in authentic texts. Working in the service of these shrines is forbidden, and the salary earned from it is not permissible. A mosque and a grave cannot coexist in Islam; rather, the one that appeared later must be removed. Working in fortune-telling or soothsaying is forbidden, and taking money for it is also forbidden. However, there is no blame upon a son for taking from his father's money if the father earns it through unlawful means, because the money earned unlawfully is forbidden only for the earner himself.
