Does a human being need an identity?

Both individuals and societies require an identity that distinguishes them. For an individual, their identity solidifies their beliefs and concepts, and fosters pride in their belonging to a society whose identity aligns with their own. Identity unites members of society and prevents their dispersion. The most crucial pillar of identity is creed. Our Islamic identity stems from a sound creed that unites its adherents towards a single goal: exalting the word of Allah and liberating people from the servitude of others. The Quran praised and magnified Islamic identity, making creed a criterion for loyalty and disavowal. The believer possesses a noble lineage extending to the prophets. The Prophet, peace be upon him, preserved the identity of the Ummah and warned against imitating polytheists. The pious predecessors followed his path in preserving it.
