To what extent can one act upon the saying: "Indeed, Allah is beautiful and loves beauty"?

"Indeed, Allah is beautiful and loves beauty," is a noble Hadith narrated by Muslim and others. The praiseworthy beauty in Islam is that which is not accompanied by imagination (or arrogance). Abu Dawud narrated that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to a man whom Allah had given wealth: "If Allah gives you wealth, then let the effect of Allah's blessings and generosity be seen upon you." Al-Manawi explains this to mean that a Muslim should wear clothes appropriate to his condition, in terms of fineness and cleanliness, while avoiding extravagance, so that those in need may recognize that he is a person of means and approach him. Therefore, beautiful clothes do not distance one from Allah, nor does coarse clothing bring one closer to Him. What is important is the fear of Allah and His piety.
