What is the religious ruling for me and my maternal uncle, and what must I do, regarding my maternal uncle's use of unlicensed Office software in his work?

Contemporary scholars have differed on the issue of copying computer programs without the permission of their owners. The fatwa (definition) adopted by us is that it is not permissible to copy protected programs except with the permission of their owners, whether the owner is a Muslim or a non-belligerent disbeliever. It is also not permissible to buy copied discs, nor to use them, nor to copy them, nor to assist in their use.
