What is the exalted status of the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace?

It is prescribed for whoever hears the Adhan to repeat after the Muezzin, then to invoke blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and then to recite the narrated supplication: "O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and the prayer to be offered, grant Muhammad Al-Wasilah and Al-Fadilah, and raise him to the praised station which You promised him. Intercession will be granted to him on the Day of Resurrection." "Al-Wasilah" is a station in Paradise, and "Al-Maqam Al-Mahmud" (the Praised Station) is the greatest intercession for judgment among people on the Day of Resurrection.
