How is inheritance divided among four sons, one daughter, and a wife?

The deceased's wife receives one-eighth (1/8) as a fixed share due to the presence of lineal descendants, based on the Almighty's saying: "But if you have a child, then for them is one eighth of what you leave, after any bequest you [may have] made or debt." The remainder goes to the daughter and sons by way of ta'sib (residuary inheritance), with the male receiving the share of two females, based on the Almighty's saying: "Allah instructs you concerning your children: for the male, what is equal to the share of two females." Thus, the estate is divided into 72 shares: 9 shares for the wife, 14 shares for each son, and 7 shares for the daughter. Matters of inheritance must be referred to the Sharia courts for investigation and to ensure there are no other heirs, bequests, debts, or rights that take precedence over the rights of the heirs.
