Al-Nu'man ibn Bashir al-Ansari al-Madani was born in the second year of the the Hijra. He was the first newborn in Islam from among the Ansar after the Hijra. He narrated from the Prophet, peace be upon him, and from Umar and Aisha, and his son Muhammad and others narrated from him. He governed Kufa during the reign of Mu'awiyah, then Homs for Ibn al-Zubayr. He was killed there in the year 64 or 65 A.H.
