Pointing with the finger during the Tashahhud is a confirmed Sunnah from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Scholars have differed on the manner of movement, falling into three opinions: continuous movement, movement when mentioning the name of Allah and supplicating, and not maintaining movement but rather pointing once. The closest of these opinions to correctness is the continuous, deliberate movement.
