Is it permissible for the therapist to touch the patient's body during ruqyah (Islamic exorcism/healing)?

The touch of the healer to the body of the bewitched falls under the ruling of touch, and the basic principle is the permissibility of touching what is permissible to look at. Thus, it is permissible for the healer to touch the patient anywhere except between the navel and the knee if they are of the same gender (two men or two women), even if there is no dire need for the touch. However, if the healer and the patient are of different genders (a man and a woman) and are not mahram or spouses, it is not permissible to touch except what is dictated by compelling necessity and dire need. It is also important to note that khalwa (private seclusion) between the healer and a non-mahram patient is impermissible.
