Is it permissible, in Islamic law, for a suitor to lie to the family of his fiancée about being married to another woman in order to ensure the completion of the marriage, knowing that the fiancée doubts the permissibility of such a lie?

If the woman has a Muslim guardian (wali), he must inform the suitor that he is already married. If she does not have a Muslim guardian, then the Imam of the Islamic Center should marry her. It is permissible for the suitor to use dissimulation (tawriyah) if he fears rejection due to being married, but outright lying is not permissible. The woman should consider the consequences and impact of concealing the suitor's marriage from her family. It is not advisable for a woman to wait for a suitor for a long time; rather, she should accept a suitable (kufu’) man if he proposes, in order to preserve her chastity. Furthermore, a righteous husband is one who adheres to religious principles in his own conduct, and not necessarily one who delivers lectures.
