What is the permissible limit for lying between spouses? Is it in flirtation, or in matters of daily life to avoid problems? Is it permissible to lie for the sake of humor or to imitate a swaggering gait? And if one lies, is it permissible for him to swear by Allah that his words are true?

We have previously clarified the criteria for permissible lying between spouses, and it is not limited to flirtation. It is permissible to lie to make one's wife laugh, as long as it does not lead to neglecting an obligation, seizing a right, or swearing a false oath. As for strutting, Allah abhors it except between the battle lines, and it has not been permitted in any other instance.
