What is the ruling on placing a deceased person afflicted with an infectious disease in a special room with some other deceased persons afflicted with the same infectious diseases, which is called "the shed," and not burying him after washing, shrouding, and praying over him?

The fundamental principle is to bury the deceased in the ground. The minimum for a grave is a pit that prevents odor and keeps out predators. It is recommended to widen and deepen it to the height of a man and the reach of his arm. It is not permissible to place the deceased above ground and cover them with soil or stones. Burial of the deceased must be expedited. The expenses for the burial are taken from the deceased's wealth. If the deceased has no wealth, then the expenses fall upon those responsible for their maintenance. Otherwise, they are covered by the public treasury (Bayt al-Mal), and failing that, by the able-bodied Muslims.
