What is the ruling on conditioning divorce upon committing a forbidden act, such as saying, "By God Almighty, otherwise you are divorced if I don't bring a woman and betray you with her and on your bed," and what is the effect of not specifying a time on the occurrence of the divorce?

You are bound by the divorce you pronounced on your wife. You may take her back before her waiting period (iddah (definition)) expires, as long as you intended a single revocable divorce. It is not permissible for you to betray her or to commit forbidden acts on her bed or elsewhere. Suspending the divorce upon such an act, even if not time-bound, is like suspending it upon an impossibility, as it is not permissible to undertake it Islamically. It is stated in Al-Dasuqi's commentary on Al-Sharh Al-Kabir that if one suspends a divorce upon something forbidden (such as "if I do not commit adultery" or "if I do not drink alcohol"), the divorce takes effect immediately, and he is not permitted to commit the forbidden act. Therefore, seek Allah's forgiveness and repent to Him with sincere repentance, and do not repeat such an act, for it is a reprehensible and false statement.
