Is it permissible to demolish the Kaaba and rebuild it on the foundations intended by the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace?

Many scholars disliked the touching or alteration of the Kaaba, fearing that it would become susceptible to changes by kings, which contradicts its sanctity and veneration enjoined by the Sharia. Imam Malik appealed to the Abbasid kings to leave it as it is, out of fear that it would become a plaything in the hands of kings. This is a testament to his jurisprudential insight, as the Kaaba should not be demolished under the pretext of restoring it to its original foundations. This is for the sake of public interest and to block the means (to mischief).
