What is to be done when one is overcome by a feeling that the Kaaba is an ordinary building that can be demolished and rebuilt, knowing that it has been demolished and rebuilt more than once, despite one’s strong attachment to it and to the circumambulation (tawaf)?

The Kaaba was not demolished in vain, but rather to rebuild it upon the foundations of Abraham. This demolition was an act of worship and an honoring of Allah's House. The Kaaba is revered for its special status, not for its stones, as it is the first House established for mankind. Allah has magnified prayer at its location, made its site a sacred sanctuary, and the Black Stone is from Paradise. Quranic verses and prophetic hadiths have been reported emphasizing its veneration, such as His (Allah's) saying: "Indeed, the first House established for mankind was that at Bakkah - blessed and a guidance for the worlds." It is among the rituals of Allah that He commanded to be magnified: "And whoever honors the rituals of Allah - indeed, it is from the piety of hearts." Statements from the Salaf (pious predecessors) have been reported confirming the great sanctity of the Kaaba and the severe punishment for those who commit sins within it.
