What should I do about seeing unveiled girls daily and hearing the adhan during classes without being able to respond? Is my father allowed to prevent me from going to the mosque out of fear of the government? How should I deal with my desire to join Sufi orders or devote myself to seeking knowledge, given my father's refusal? Am I permitted to enjoin good and forbid evil despite not possessing sufficient religious knowledge?

A Muslim must perform prayer in the mosque upon hearing the call [to prayer] unless there is a legitimate excuse, such as illness or fear. Obedience to the father is obligatory if he prevents [the son from going] out of fear of certain or probable harm. Seeking beneficial knowledge is one of the greatest acts of nearness [to Allah], and one should be keen on it with the intention of benefiting Muslims. As for enjoining good and forbidding evil, it is obligatory upon every Muslim according to their ability, and it is done with the hand, then with the tongue, then with the heart, and it must be regulated by the Quran and Sunnah.
