Why is it forbidden to sleep on one's stomach? Is this for men and women?
The prohibition of sleeping on one's stomach was conveyed by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Ya'ish ibn Tihfah al-Ghifari narrated from his father that the Prophet saw him lying on his stomach and nudged him with his foot, saying: "This is a lying down that Allah, the Mighty and Exalted, dislikes." In another narration: "This is the lying down of the people of Hellfire." This prohibition is general for both males and females.
