How is an inheritance distributed when the deceased is survived by a father, full brother, mother, and wife, and there are debts owed by the deceased?

First, the debt of the deceased must be paid before the inheritance is distributed, because debt takes precedence over the rights of the heirs. If the deceased left only a wife, a mother, and a father, then the wife gets one-fourth, the mother gets one-third of the remainder, and the father gets the rest. The full brother gets nothing because he is excluded by the father. The inheritance is divided into four shares: one share for the wife, one share for the mother, and two shares for the father. This issue is known as one of "the Two Umariyyah issues."
