Is it permissible to castrate animals?

It is permissible to castrate animals if there is a شرعًا [religiously] recognized benefit, and it does not lead to their demise, as exemplified by the Prophet's (peace be upon him) sacrifice of two castrated rams. However, if there is no شرعًا [religiously] recognized benefit, then it is not permissible due to the harm inflicted upon the animal without any benefit.
