What is the ruling on castrating animals such as sheep, lambs, horses, and cows in Islam for the purpose of fattening or for other reasons, and is it permissible in specific cases?

Castrating animals is permissible, especially if they are edible, for the sake of benefit, such as increasing their fat and improving their meat. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, sacrificed two castrated rams. The Hanafis, Malikis, Shafi'is, and Hanbalis have permitted this, with conditions including that it does not lead to their death or torture, and that it is done at a young age. A weak hadith (definition) has been reported prohibiting the castration of horses and livestock.
