Was Sahla حديثة عهد بولادة (recently delivered) when she breastfed Salim, and if not, how was there milk in her breast?

The famous story narrates that Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudhayfah, used to enter Abu Hudhayfah's house. Abu Hudhayfah's wife, Sahla bint Suhayl, consulted the Prophet (peace be upon him) about this after she noticed aversion on her husband's face. The Prophet (peace be upon him) commanded her to breastfeed him so that he would become a mahram to her. The narrations mention that she expressed her milk into a bowl, from which Salim drank five times.

Regarding the question of how her milk was still present, it is possible that the milk flowed for her from another child, or due to a miscarriage, or her milk continued after the birth of her son Muhammad. It is not necessary for milk to be exclusive to newborns; a woman may lactate even without pregnancy or marriage sometimes, and this lactation establishes mahramiyyah. Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Baz confirmed that legal fosterage is established merely by a woman lactating, even if she is not pregnant or married, and that her children become siblings to the suckled child if the breastfeeding occurs five times or more and the child is under two years of age.

The story is authentic and without blemish. Scholars have discussed its rulings and benefits without questioning the presence of milk for the woman in that situation.
