Scholars are of the view that for an adult to be breastfed, he should drink the expressed milk, and it is not permissible for an adult to latch onto a woman's breast. Some scholars, however, permit this specifically for Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudhayfah, due to his particular need and because it was established in the minds of those concerned that he was her son and she was his mother, and also because it is not permissible to expose a free woman's breast, as it is 'awrah (private part).
