Is a husband's response to his wife, "Even I can no longer bear this life," after she has uttered the same statement, considered a kinayah (allusion) of divorce?

This phrase is not considered an ambiguous statement of divorce (kinayah) and nothing results from it. Spouses must speak kindly to each other so that Satan does not come between them and corrupt their lives, for Satan is keen to separate those who love each other. Allah Almighty said: "And tell My servants to say that which is best. Indeed, Satan incites [discord] among them. Indeed, Satan is ever, to man, a clear enemy." [Al-Isra: 53]. This emphasis on good speech is even more pronounced between spouses, as Iblis boasts about anyone who separates a man from his wife.
