Is wearing the niqab that covers most of the eyes, including the eyelashes, obligatory, and does falling short in it spoil devoutness and cause uneasiness?

If a servant does not find the sweetness of faith and the delight of worship, let him know that there is a defect in his deeds, because Allah rewards the doer in this world with a sweetness in his heart. Therefore, if a servant's heart changes, he should increase his seeking of forgiveness and examine his heart and deeds for any hypocrisy, self-admiration, envy, or attachment to other than Allah. Seeking forgiveness and affirming monotheism with sincerity and devotion cure shortcomings in speech, action, state, sustenance, or the fluctuation of the heart. Languor is an inevitable state for a servant, and every doer has a period of inactivity after his zeal (activity), and there are divine wisdoms in these periods.
