There is no objection to using the Qur'an as evidence for historical matters, provided that the interpretation adheres to its known principles and considers the hierarchy of opinions in interpretation. Speaking about the meanings of the Qur'an and interpreting its verses is a tremendous undertaking, not for everyone, and whoever speaks about it with their mere opinion is sinful.
