Nevertheless, it is advisable to refrain from listening to such songs because the ear becomes accustomed to what it repeatedly hears, and because they promote and spread falsehood. One should also avoid listening to songs accompanied by musical instruments due to the prohibition of listening to them, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I have been forbidden two foolish, sinful sounds: a sound at the tune of Satan's flute, and a sound at a calamity, and Satan's wailing." Ibn al-Qayyim mentioned that listening to singing with forbidden instruments diverts hearts from the Quran and makes them devoted to immorality and disobedience, and that it is "Satan's Quran."
