What is the ruling on a husband having anal sex with his wife, and how can one break free from this habit?

Having intercourse with one's wife in her anus is among the forbidden acts and grave sins. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the one who commits it, saying: "Accursed is he who has intercourse with a woman in her anus," and "Allah will not look at a man who has intercourse with his wife in her anus." Repentance is obligatory for this heinous act, which indicates a deviation from natural inclination, because it is not a place for cultivation and progeny. Allah has commanded approaching one's wife in the place of cultivation, as He Almighty said: "Your wives are a place of cultivation for you, so come to your place of cultivation however you wish."
