Are the aforementioned words, with the speaker's intention at the time, considered a divorce, and is it advisable to continue the marriage, or separate, or renew the contract?

The phrases mentioned are not considered an explicit divorce. Rather, they are among the allusive phrases which do not constitute a divorce unless there is an intention to divorce, meaning that the husband intends, when uttering them, to release his wife from his bond. One must beware of obsessive whispering (waswasah) which may make the obsessive person imagine that divorce has occurred through many of his utterances. It is advised not to divorce one's wife except with an explicit utterance, after careful consideration and thought. It is not advised to separate from one's wife unless she is unsatisfactory in her religiosity and character, or if the husband does not feel comfort and stability with her. He must weigh the good against the deficiencies, seek guidance from Allah (istikharah), consult trustworthy individuals, and identify the causes of disagreement and how to remedy them.
