Are the ignorant considered more sinful than the disbelievers, the wrongdoers, and the corrupt, based on the noble verses: "And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed – then it is those who are the disbelievers" and "And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed – then it is those who are the wrongdoers" and "And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed – then it is those who are the corrupt" and "Is it the judgment of [the time of] ignorance they desire?"?

The term "Jahiliyyah" (pre-Islamic ignorance) is an innovation of the Quran to describe and condemn polytheists, as in the verses: "Is it the judgment of [the time of] ignorance they desire?" and "And do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance" and "the zeal of the time of ignorance." So, the people of Jahiliyyah are the polytheists, and polytheism (shirk) and disbelief (kufr) are of the same degree. As for injustice (dhulm) and transgression (fisq), they may refer either to disbelief that expels one from the fold of Islam or to a sin. So, whoever rules by other than what Allah has revealed, deeming it permissible, or believes that the rule of man-made laws is better, is a greater disbeliever (kafir kufr akbar). And whoever rules by other than the Sharia mostly due to his whims, while acknowledging the truth, is mistaken and sinful, but this does not expel him from the fold of Islam.
