What do you say in the prostration of forgetfulness (sujud al-sahw) and the prostration of recitation (sujud al-tilawah)?
If a questioner asks about the prescribed remembrance (dhikr) in the prostration of forgetfulness (sujood al-sahw) and the prostration of recitation (sujood al-tilawah):
For the prostration of forgetfulness, what is prescribed is the same as what is prescribed for the prostration in prayer.
As for the manner of the prostration of recitation, it is performed by saying "Allahu Akbar" (Allahu akbar), then prostrating on the seven limbs just like in prayer. One should say in it: "Subhana Rabbiyal-A'la (Glory be to my Lord, the Most High), Subhanaka Allahumma Rabbana wa bihamdika, Allahummaghfir li (Glory be to You, O Allah, our Lord, and with Your praise, O Allah, forgive me)." And one should supplicate with the well-known supplication: "Allahumma laka sajadtu, wa bika amantu, wa laka aslamtu, sajada wajhi lilladhi khalaqahu, wa sawwarahu, wa shaqqa sam'ahu wa basarahu, bihawlihi wa quwwatihi. Allahumma aktub li biha ajran, wada' 'anni biha wizran, waj'alha li 'indaka dhukhran, wa taqabbalha minni kama taqabbaltaha min 'abdika Dawud (O Allah, for You I have prostrated, in You I have believed, and to You I have submitted. My face has prostrated to the One who created it, fashioned it, and slit its hearing and sight with His might and power. O Allah, write for me a reward for it, remove from me a burden for it, make it a treasure for me with You, and accept it from me as You accepted it from Your servant Dawud)." Then one stands up without saying "Allahu Akbar" or performing the salutation (taslim).
