Who is more entitled to financial support: the wife and children, or the siblings and mother? And is the husband considered sinful for relying on his wife's money to support his family? And what is the husband's duty towards his home and his family's home?

The mother-in-law's maintenance is obligatory upon her son if she is in need, and similarly, brothers and sisters if they are in need and unable to earn, according to the Hanafi and Hanbali schools of thought. A condition for the obligation of maintenance is that the provider has a surplus beyond their own needs. Maintenance begins with the wife, then the child, then the relatives. The husband is not permitted to compel his wife to spend from her private wealth. Spending on one's family is considered among the best deeds, and giving charity or a gift from the wife's wealth does not require the husband's permission. It is advisable for the couple to communicate and for the wife to encourage her husband to spend on his family in a way that does not infringe upon her rights.
