ما معنى كلمة حصب؟

The word "حَصَبَ" (hasaba) in the Arabic language means: to throw with pebbles (stones). And "الحصب" (al-hasab) is everything that is thrown into the fire to make it burn, as in the Almighty's saying: "Indeed, you, [disbelievers], and whatever you worship other than Allah are the fuel of Hell. You will [all] enter it." And Ibn Manzur believes that al-hasab, in the language of the people of Yemen, means firewood, and everything that is thrown into the fire is considered hasab.
