"Ahzab" is the plural of "Hizb," and "tahazzub" literally means gathering or grouping. This word has been used in the Quran with several meanings, including: people gathered to fight the Prophet, those gathered upon falsehood and following Satan's methodology, those gathered upon following the methodology of truth, and disbelieving nations who denied the messengers. The word "Hizb" is also used to refer to half a juz' (part) of the Quran, which is a common conventional division in the lands of the Islamic West.
