What is the best amount of money to spend in the cause of Allah, and what is the interpretation of the Hadith: "One-third, and one-third is much"?

One should continue to give charity and be diligent in it, in accordance with the Almighty’s saying: ﴿And whatever thing you spend [in His cause] - He will compensate it; and He is the best of providers﴾, and the Prophet's saying, peace and blessings be upon him: "Wealth is not diminished by charity." However, it is a condition that charity should not harm oneself or those whose maintenance is obligatory upon one. It is disliked to give in charity what exceeds one's needs if the person is not patient. As for the hadith prohibiting a will for more than a third, it does not apply to charity. 'Umar gave half of his wealth in charity, while Abu Bakr gave all of his wealth in charity, which indicates Abu Bakr's superiority due to the strength of his faith. In conclusion: It is permissible to give half of one's profit or more in charity, provided that it does not harm the giver or his dependents.
