A number of exegetes mentioned that the meaning of the verse: (So pray to your Lord and sacrifice) is placing the right hand over the left in prayer. This interpretation was attributed to Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, and also narrated from Ibn Abbas. Another interpretation was reported from Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, stating that it means raising the hands in takbir to the throat, but Sheikh Al-Albani ruled this latter interpretation to be invalid.
