The default is that lying is forbidden. It is not permissible for you to lie to your mother unless the lie is in a situation where it is permitted, in which case it is better to use allusions (al-ma'arid). Parents should not be overly strict with their children by not forgiving. It is permissible for a woman to speak with her suitor, provided she adheres to Islamic guidelines, such as not being in seclusion () or speaking in a submissive manner.
