What is the meaning of the statement by Sheikh Muhammad Khalil Harras: "As for him who affirms it [the Resurrection] but claims that Allah resurrects souls in bodies other than the bodies they had in this world, then he is an innovator and a transgressor"? And how will people's bodies be upon resurrection from the graves?

Whoever denies the physical resurrection is a disbeliever, like the Christians who do not believe in physical bliss or resurrection, but rather consider bliss to be spiritual. As for one who affirms the principle of physical resurrection but claims that the body decomposes and the soul is resurrected in another body created by Allah for it, he is not a disbeliever but rather an innovator (mubtadiʿ) and a transgressor (fasiq). And whoever claims that Allah creates another soul for the new body, this is a greater deviation, because the Qur’an and Sunnah have indicated that Allah restores the very same body that obeyed or disobeyed, and the very same soul that believed or disbelieved. This is what the messengers have agreed upon.
