What is the wisdom behind the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) beginning his sermon with praise and glorification, three Qur'anic verses about piety, and mentioning innovation?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to say in the Khutbat al-Hajah (definition) (Sermon of Need): "Indeed, all praise is due to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, and ask His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allah from the evil of our souls and from the evil of our deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can lead astray, and whomsoever Allah leaves astray, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His messenger." Then he would recite three verses: "O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared" (3:102), and "O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul" (4:1), and "O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak a word of uprightness" (33:70). Then he would state his need.

His saying: "Whomsoever Allah guides, none can lead astray" is an affirmation that guidance is solely in Allah's hands. 6. The two testimonies (Shahadatayn) are an affirmation of Allah's Lordship and Divinity, and of His Messenger's truthfulness and transmission of the message. 7. Reciting the verses of Taqwa (definition) (piety) is to show that Taqwa is the essence of the matter and the objective of the sermon. 8. The prohibition of innovations (bid'ah) and newly invented matters is because they are a cause of corruption in religion.
