Is it permissible to be named "David," which means "Dawud (peace be upon him)" in English?

A person's name is their title, and "George" is a name specific to and well-known among disbelievers. Adopting the names of disbelievers is one of the clearest manifestations of imitating them. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever imitates a people is one of them." Therefore, it is not permissible for a Muslim to adopt this name. If a Muslim wishes to use the names of prophets, they should use them exactly as they appeared in the texts of revelation.
