The word "Fajr" (dawn) is mentioned in the Holy Quran in four places: In Surat Al-Baqarah, in the verse about fasting: (until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct to you from the black thread); in Surat Al-Isra: (And [recite] the Quran of Fajr. Indeed, the recitation of Fajr is ever witnessed); in Surat An-Nur, in the verse about seeking permission: (before the Fajr prayer); and in Surat Al-Fajr, as the name of the Surah and in its first verse.
