Is it permissible to say "may Allah be pleased with him" for Abu Sufyan ibn Harb?

Abu Sufyan was a venerable Companion who embraced Islam in the year of the Conquest and strove in the path of Allah, losing his eyes therein. He deserves to have Allah's pleasure invoked upon him, like the rest of the Companions. The early generations (Salaf) invoked Allah's pleasure upon him in their books, such as Al-Bukhari, Al-Shafi'i, and Al-Nawawi. Whoever slanders him or avoids invoking Allah's pleasure upon him has a sickness in his heart. By loving him and loving the Companions, one draws closer to Allah the Almighty.
