Does the permissibility of adopting the opinion of a reliable person regarding the sighting of the new moon contradict the acceptance of the new moon's sighting from any Muslim, based on the Bedouin's حديث (hadith) in which the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked him about his faith and his testimony regarding the sighting of the new moon?

The hadith to which the questioner referred is weak and unsound. Even if it were authentic, its meaning could be interpreted in several ways:

1. The matter of accepting the testimony of the crescent moon-sighter and their trustworthiness rests with the judge, who can accept the testimony if he is convinced of the sighter's reliability, even if no one else knows them.

2. The hadith indicates that the default state of a Muslim is righteousness until proven otherwise.

3. This ruling might be specific to the Companions, as all of them were righteous.

Note that the hadith is weak, and Allah Almighty has made us needless of its interpretation.
